Labelling the Congress as anti-Sikh and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as a party of outsiders, deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal sounded the poll bugle by launching the ‘Youth for Punjab campaign’ here on Monday, asking the Youth Akali Dal cadres to start work in all 117 constituencies.
He asked Punjab ministers Sharanjit Singh Dhillon and Bikram Singh Majithia to jointly lead the campaign. By giving a new slogan “Punjab Punjabian da”, Sukhbir tried to invoke the native feeling among the youths to take on the AAP.
He said it was the Congress government when the Akal Takht was attacked and, now, the AAP was labelling Punjabis as drug addicts. “The dope tests being conducted during the police recruitment show the number of addicts in Punjab is negligible,” he said.
“No amount of coffee drinking with Captain (Amarinder Singh) or defaming by outsiders (AAP) will help either the defunct Capt or the liar (Arvind Kejriwal),” he said.
He said he felt the same as he did in December 2010 when youngsters got together and started a movement that eventually resulted in the victory of the SAD- BJP alliance in 2012.
