The child was recovered from Kesar Singh Wala village under Rampura Phul subdivision on Wednesday evening and restored to the parents.

Kamaljeet Singh Dhillon, senior superintendent of police (SSP), said, “The newly-born male child was kidnapped from Dr Mathura Dass civil hospital here on March 22. The arrested women have been identified as Daljit Kaur alias Rani, a resident of Suraj Nagar of Moga, and her mother-in-law Mukhtiar Kaur."

The baby boy was reunited with his parents immediately.

The SSP said that Gurmeet Kaur, 22, a resident of Shera Mudar village of Ferozepur district, gave birth to a male child at the civil hospital here two days ago. Rani had come to the maternity ward at the second floor of the hospital posing herself as a nurse in the hospital and kidnapped the child after fooling the grandfather of the child.
