Actor Jimmy Shergill had a short and sweet message for young achievers awarded at the HT Youth Forum in Chandigarh on Monday night. “Let’s not wait for it to be a good time or the best time. Let’s work towards making the present the best time. Let’s do it ourselves,” he said, referring to the subject of the panel discussion: ‘Is it the best time to be young?’
Joining legendary athlete Milkha Singh on stage he said, “The youth is the only section in society that has the power to change things. Children are linked to their parents and can’t take independent decisions, while elders have the experience but may not have the energy so if there’s any section that can make a difference, it’s the youth.”
During the panel discussion, he urged for responsible behaviour on social media and cautioned there were more ‘misusers’ than users on it today.
His question to Kiran Bedi was why fewer children opt for the defence forces today. He revealed his childhood dream of joining the forces and how life had willed otherwise when BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur shared that he would be joining the Territorial Army next month. “You should also try too. I’m sure you’ll qualify,” Thakur said to Jimmy.
