Moga deputy commissioner Kuldeep Singh Vaid has decided to bid farewell to his bureaucratic career, reportedly to enter the political fray. A 1992-batch Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officer promoted to Indian Administrative Services (IAS) in 2007, Vaid on Monday sent his resignation letter to the Punjab chief secretary, seeking voluntary retirement on personal and family grounds. His retirement was due in 2021.
Sources said Vaid shares close relations with senior Congress leader, especially former Union minister Buta Singh, due to which the party has decided to field him in the 2017 assembly polls.
“As Vaid hails from Ludhiana, he is likely to contest from Payal, Gill or Jagraon assembly segment,” they said.
Vaid, however, is keeping his cards close to his chest. Refraining from disclosing his future plans, Vaid said if he gets a chance to jump into the politics, he will definitely go for it and work with full dedication.
“I have a passion for doing something different for my country, and if my plans succeed, I will definitely try to bring a positive change to our system,” he said.
On speculations about the Congress offering him a ticket, Vaid said nothing is clear yet, but if the party gives him a chance, he will put in all his dedication.
The Congress is all set to declare its first list of 70 of 117 candidates in the first week of December. Sources said Vaid’s name is expected to be on that list.
