Accusing the police of shoddy investigation to shield Seerat, the deceased’s father Jaspal Singh Dhillon met Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday.

His son, Darshan Singh, and grand children accompanied him.

“The chief minister has assured us of free and fair investigation. He told us that the SSP SAS Nagar Kuldeep Singh Chahal is monitoring the investigation and culprits will not be spared,” Jaspal, later told a press conference.

He added that after the CM’s assurance, the family had decided to cremate Ekam at the Sector 25 cremation ground, Chandigarh, at noon, on Tuesday.

When contacted, former Congress MLA from Sardulgarh Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, said, “It is an unfortunate incident and my name is unnecessarily being dragged into the case. Seerat is my sister’s daughter. The couple’s relationship was under strain since 2007. I have also met the CM.”
