Member of Parliament Kirron Kher has written a letter to UT adviser Parimal Rai on Tuesday, raising concern over the favour shown to teachers and principals taken from other states for promotions at the expense of UT cadre teachers by the school education department here.
She mentioned that recently a delegation of Joint Action Committee (JAC) of teachers, Chandigarh, led by its secretary Ranbir Rana brought to her notice that according to the service rules junior basic teachers (JBT), trained graduate teachers (TGT) and post graduate teachers (PGT) and principals from other states could be taken on deputation by UT administration for a maximum period of five years.
The members of deputation told her that in violation of rules these teachers and heads are being allowed to continue for 15 to 20 years.
The letter stated that this practice was affecting the promotional avenues of UT cadre teachers.
Most of the principals and heads are promoted according to the seniority of the parent states who are otherwise much junior than the UT cadre teachers. Hence, UT cadre teachers are compelled to work under their juniors.

Kher said in her letter that in case the aforementioned assertions by JAC are based on facts, then the position needs immediate attention, as she is of the considered view that nobody, particularly Chandigarh teachers, be allowed to suffer due to officials’ apathy.
