Normal life remained unaffected here as the call for Punjab bandh given by SAD (Amritsar), led by Simranjeet Singh Mann, to protest against the sacrilege incidents in Punjab did not have much impact.

Most of the commercial establishments, shops and schools were open while rail and road traffic was also not affected.

Mnay radical groups, including Dal Khalsa and Damdami Taksal, did not participate in the bandh called by SAD (Amritsar).

The administration had made all arrangements to maintain law and order, officials said. A heavy police force, accompanied by black commandos, was deployed at all strategic and sensitive locations across the city, a police official said. Special police nakas were also set up in the city.

Sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Gurpal Singh Chahal said that the situation was peaceful in the city as there was no effect of the bandh call.
