Four men in Ford Figo intercepted the Alto car of a Dalbir Singh, a 25-year-old resident of Mehmadpur village in Dera Bassi, near Haripur Kuran village and fired three shots at close range, injuring him in the arm in broad daylight on Wednesday.
here was panic among residents as the accused fled after the incident. Police claims that an old rivalry between the miscreants and Dalbir was the reason for the assault, though details are sketchy.
Dalbir was rushed to the Dera Bassi civil hospital and later referred to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).
The police have recovered an empty pistol, three shells and one cartridge from the site.
Dera Bassi SHO Deepinder Singh, said, “Dalbir has suffered three bullet injuries on his arm. We are yet to record Dalbir’s statement as his condition is still critical.”

{{/usCountry}}On August 13, Dalbir Singh had a narrow escape the Swift car he and his three friends were on was intercepted and attacked at the Isaapur road, near the Dera Bassi railway crossing, by around 12 men from a rival group.
The group fired upon them, injuring two of Dalbir’s friends — Gurpreet Singh and Parvinder Singh, both residents of Mehmadpur village near Dera Bassi. Gurpreet sustained a bullet injury in the stomach, Parvinder was injured on the chest and head, having been attacked with sharp-edged weapons.
