Phagwara police busts criminal gang with arrest of three men

The Phagwara police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang of criminals with the arrest of three of its members within 24 hours of robbery, while two of their accomplices managed to escape.

The Phagwara police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang of criminals with the arrest of three of its members within 24 hours of robbery, while two of their accomplices managed to escape.

The police have seized cash worth Rs 31,000, 12 mobile phones, a laptop, a base-bat, three motorcycles and two sharp-edged weapons from them.

In a press conference, Phagwara superintendent of police (SP) Gursewak Singh Brar said Parveen Kumar, a resident of Sunrha Rajputa village near Phagwara, lodged a complaint at Sadar Police station on Wednesday that some people had robbed him of 50 new mobile phones, seven old phones and Rs 1.5 lakh, while he was returning to his village on Tuesday night.

The SP said: "He complained that the accused were riding motorcycles and had looted his belongings after attacking him with sharp-edged weapons."

Aman Kumar, station house officer of Sadar police station, said different teams had been formed to nab all the accused.

Kumar further said: "The remaining accused have been identified and they will be arrested soon."

Those arrested include Charanjit Kumar, a resident of Satnampura, Gagandeep, a resident of Manavali village, and Satish Kumar, a resident of Gandva village.

A case has been registered under Section 392 of the Indian Penal Code at Sadar police station.
