Reiterating that the Punjab government is committed to eradicating the drug menace and a lot is being done in this direction, chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday sought more time for the purpose.
“Badals were in power for the past ten years and we have been here for just two months. The government is committed to setting things right but this all requires time,” he said while talking to the media here.
“We have already made a task force and results have started coming. The supply line has been smashed to an extent and the people have been put behind bars. The price of heroin has also gone up, indicating the government’s tough stance in its war against drugs,” he added.

The CM also reiterated his government’s commitment to waiving off farmers’ debts, saying the State Farmers’ Commission would work out the modalities and give viable recommendations on the issue within two months.
During his visit to the Punjab State War Heroes Memorial and Museum, the CM said he was personally committed to implementing all Congress poll promises in the state, including farm loan waiver, elimination of the drugs menace and exemplary punishment for those found guilty of sacrilege.

{{/usCountry}}He said based on the report of the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission, probing incidents of sacrilege, the government would give severe punishment to all those found guilty.
On recent incidents of sacrilege, he said some unscrupulous elements were deliberately indulging in such heinous activities in order to disrupt the peace and harmony of the state.
During his visit to the museum, Capt was accompanied by cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla and Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar.
