Although, free wi-fi is operational in few parts of the complex, now that the SGPC IT wing has completed the testing along with Connect, the new SGPC president will soon formally inaugurated it.

Talking to HT, SGPC additional secretary and spokesperson Diljit Singh Bedi said: “The facility will be available near the serais (inns), outer area, plaza, information office and other places visited by pilgrims. However, keeping in mind the ‘maryada’, the facility will not be available in the sanctum sanctorum and parikrama.”

Bedi said the SGPC will also be putting up display boards to inform the pilgrims about the facility. Once a pilgrim gets the username and password, he or she can use the facility for 30 minutes. After that, pilgrims will have to get the password again, he said.

All SGPC offices will also be covered under the facility.
