Jagpal Singh (30), a resident of Joga village here, who had ordered an iPhone from Snapdeal.com got a rude shock when he opened the package. Instead of Apple’s brand new Smartphone, the box revealed a piece of brick inside it.
Jagpal Singh had ordered iPhone 6 (16 GB model) worth Rs 37,000 online on October 18. His order number 9209379221 was delivered on October 22 at his relative’s address in Bathinda. “I had asked my aunt to just receive the pack and keep it with her. One of my friends went there and collected the packet. When I received the packet and opened it, I found a piece of brick wrapped in a paper,” said Jagpal Singh.
Jagpal had chosen the ‘EMI’ option while ordering the iPhone and had already paid the first instalment. He, however, immediately contacted the company officials to resolve the issue. “I contacted them on October 24 and they have promised to solve issue in 48 hours. They have told they have received the payment and either my product will be delivered soon or I will be returned my cash amount.”
According to Jagpal, the company officials told him that the courier company, which delivered the iphone at his address might be responsible for the goof- up. HT tried to contact the Snapdeal officials in New Delhi, but they could not be reached for comment.

Snapdeal has spelt out its refund policy on its website and says the e-tailer would take 7-15 days to meet a refund request.
