Before the accused sexually assaulted the woman, he reportedly sent her husband to the Sutlej river to perform some rites. The accused was identified as Firoza Ram.

The woman stated that she gave birth to two children, but none survived. A relative told her about Firoza Ram’s ‘divine’ powers and that he could help her.

She and her husband went to Firoza’s dera on April 14. The accused gave them ‘parsad’ and asked them to visit him again on Sunday to perform some remedies.

The woman added that when she and her husband reached there, the accused started chanting. He gave a coconut to her husband and asked him to immerse it in the Sutlej canal, while he forced her to stay there saying he wanted to perform some rites.
