Temperature dips by 5°C in Chandigarh, rain predicted on Wed

A day after the city recorded its hottest May 2 since 1982, the day’s temperature on Tuesday recorded a dip by 5°C to 37.5°C as cloud cover and wind combined to give residents the much-needed respite on Tuesday. However, the minimum temperature rose to 28.6°— 6° above normal.

A day after the city recorded its hottest May 2 since 1982, the day’s temperature on Tuesday recorded a dip by 5°C to 37.5°C as cloud cover and wind combined to give residents the much-needed respite on Tuesday. However, the minimum temperature rose to 28.6°— 6° above normal.

The region will get some respite from the sizzling heat as the weatherman has predicted light to moderate rain and thundershowers during the next two days — Wednesday and Thursday.

“There are chances of light rain or thundershowers during the next two days. The temperature is expected to come down by a few degrees,” said Surender Paul, director, UT meteorological department. The Met website predicts cloudy sky with possibility of light rain.
