Tension has been brewing between the Youth Akali Dal (YAD) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers in the region after the AAP workers allegedly installed controversial banners and poster naming state revenue minister Bikram Majithia.
As per reports coming from different parts of Doaba region, scuffles were averted in Hoshiarpur, Sultanpur Lodhi, Mukerian, Dasuya and Jalandhar between the AAPYAD workers. In Hoshiarpur, the position is such that the clash may happen anytime.
As per a call given by the AAP’s state body, the party workers have been asked to install such hoardings across the state.
While the AAP workers are adamant over installing these banners, the YAD workers are seen removing them and is not allowing them to put such material anywhere.
In Hoshiarpur, tension prevailed when AAP workers laid controversial banners in front of their city office in Bhangi Chow area on Tuesday and YAD workers objected to it. After tension and deployment of police, YAD workers finally removed the hoardings.
In Mukerian, as per reports, the police had to intervene between the two groups on Monday evening when both sides, equipped with rods and sharp-edged weapons, came face to face over the issue.

{{/usCountry}}Both sides have made complaints to the district administrations, naming each other of spoiling the atmosphere. The AAP has submitted a memorandum to Hoshiarpur SDM a few days back, alleging that the YAD workers tore their banners.
YAD’s Hoshiarpur district president has lodged a written complaint with the deputy commissioner, asking for action against the AAP for putting such derogatory hoardings against their leader.
“The AAP has taken political fight to its lowest level by putting such posters. They are claiming to be a party with a difference, but this act has exposed their mental bankruptcy. But we won’t allow coming up of such banners and if the administration won’t stop them against defaming our leader, we will do it ourself,” said, Sarabjot Sabi, YAD’s Doaba Zone head.
He said by leveling such hoardings the AAP wants to spoil the atmosphere of Punjab as the YAD workers will always object to such banners.
However, the AAP leaders are not in a mood to relent. “Our leaders had already filed complaints to the officials concerned, but the administration if taking YAD’s side on the issue. We will continue putting such hoardings as we are only speaking the truth. Our workers are very excited to put such banners,” said Ashok Nanglia, AAP’s Hoshiapur Zone observer.
After the AAP’s campaign, the YAD leaders have also started leveling hoardings showing solidarity with Majithia.
