Three of Jalandhar family make suicide bid, one succumbs

Disturbed over their family’s poor financial condition, a 35-year-old woman along with her two minor mentally-challenged sons consumed celphos tablets late Saturday at Kishangarh village on the Jalandhar-Pathankot highway, resulting in the death one of the boys.

Disturbed over their family’s poor financial condition, a 35-year-old woman along with her two minor mentally-challenged sons consumed celphos tablets late Saturday at Kishangarh village on the Jalandhar-Pathankot highway, resulting in the death one of the boys.

The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Kumar (17) who died on Sunday morning at the civil hospital here. The victim’s body was handed over to his father Paramjeet, an auto-rickshaw driver.

The deceased’s mother Krishna (35) and younger brother Raj Kumar (15) are still undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

In a statement to the police, Parmajeet claimd that the financial condition of his family was not good for the past few months and he had himself met with an accident and failed to go on duty which disturbed budget of his family.

He further said his wife demanded Rs 500 from him in the morning but he was unable to give her the money and went outside the house.

A case under sections 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been registered in connection with the death of Rakesh on the statement of Paramjeet at the Kishangarh police post.
