The family from Ferozepur had come to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple and was sleeping in the 'parikarma'. They came to know about the missing child around 1:30am.

As the family raised an alarm, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee authorities sounded the police. The CCTV footage obtained from the SGPC control room later revealed that an unidentified woman had picked up the child and walked away while the family lay asleep nearby.

The footage showed that while the suspect was alone when she picked up the child, though earlier she was accompanied by three more persons.

Talking to HT, Jaswinder Singh, uncle of the kidnapped boy, said, "After paying obeisance on Friday, we performed 'sewa' and then slept in the 'parikarma'. We were shocked when we found that Gurmilap was missing. We just want the police to take the case on top priority and find out our child."

The CCTV footage of the accused was also flashed to other police stations and efforts were on to recover the child, he added.

Asked if any organised gang was behind the kidnapping, he said, "Nothing can be said till the accused are nabbed."
