JBVNL inks deals to boost power scenario in the state

The Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) on Thursday inked deals with various departments and signed memorandum of understanding with rural franchisees to enhance the power scenario in the state and facilitate the consumers with better infrastructure.

The Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) on Thursday inked deals with various departments and signed memorandum of understanding with rural franchisees to enhance the power scenario in the state and facilitate the consumers with better infrastructure.

Chief engineer (commercial and revenue) SC Mishra signed the deals in the presence of JBVNL managing director Rahul Purwar.

JBVNL signed an agreement with the department of posts which will help renew bill payments from post offices that were put on hold for the past four years.

The discom company also signed a deal with with Pragya Kendras -- special purpose vehicles -- which will facilitate e-governance for bill collections in rural areas.

A long term agreement has also been signed with the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to evacuate power from the NTPC plant in Darli-Palli (Odisha), that will provide power to Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and Sikkim. Jharkhand is expected to get 145 MW from the power plant for which the state has to build a transmission line and grid stations.

The rural franchisees roped in are: Tarun Bharat Seva Sansthan (Garhwa-II), Jan Kalyan Vikas Kendra (Nagar Untari), Veena Consultancies (Japla), Maa Vaishnavi Constructions (Chatarpur), Nidan Seva Sansthan (Rajkharsawan), Meera Seva Sadan (Dumri) and Society for the Regional Development of Chotanagpur (Giridih-Rural).

Another agreement was signed with M/s SPIRIT that will design an online platform for online bill collection and registrations and help address consumer complaints.
