The duo was accompanied by Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) legislator Pradeep Yadav.

Yadav, who broke away from the Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) and now heads his own faction, landed in Ranchi on Sunday night and met Marandi.

On his arrival, Yadav spoke about the prospects of uniting against the NDA for the upcoming 2019 elections.

He accused the Centre of having failed to meet its promises and putting the country’s unity at risk through divisive politics.

“ They spent around 45 minutes together,” said Ashok Choudhary, superintendent of Birsa Munda Jail.

They did not make any comment after the meeting.

Convicted in a case related to fraudulent withdrawal of around Rs 89 lakh from Deoghar treasury between 1991 and 1994, Prasad has been placed in the upper division cell of Ranchi jail since December 23.

Tejashwi had said after the meeting that the RJD was planning to form a united force against the BJP in Jharkhand for the 2019 general and assembly elections.
