Madhavan’s Vikram Vedha to be screened at Tokyo International Film Festival

Vikram Vedha, in which he played an encounter, is all set to have its Japanese premiere at 30th Tokyo International Film Festival.

Actor R Madhavan has been having a dream run with back-to-back success of his Tamil films Irudhi Suttru and Vikram Vedha. Not only did these films turn out to be profitable ventures, they also helped the Rang De Basanti actor to break away from his chocolate boy image and successfully transform into a fierce performer.

His latest release, Vikram Vedha, in which he played an encounter, is all set to have its Japanese premiere at 30th Tokyo International Film Festival; the film’s makers Y Not Studios announced on Twitter.

Directed by Pushkar-Gayatri, the film also starred Vijay Sethupathi as a gangster. Inspired by the popular folklore of Vikram Betaal, its moralities riddles are applied to a police-gangster backdrop. By grossing over Rs. 60 crore worldwide in its lifetime theatrical run, the film has impressed critics and audiences alike. Apparently, actors Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh are in talks for the film’s Telugu remake. The Hindi remake will reportedly feature Shah Rukh Khan while Madhavan will be retained to play his same character.

Vikram Vedha did extremely well at the box-office outside India as well. In the US, it had emerged as the second highest grossing Tamil film after Baahubali 2 this year. The film, which has music by CS Sam, also stars Shraddha Srinath, Kathir and Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar in key roles.
