Akshay Kumar released Part 2 of the making-of video, a little more than a month after Part 1, on his Twitter account, and it featured what one has come to expect from a Shankar movie - visual grandeur and cutting edge technology. The movie, a sequel to the 2010 film Enthiran, starring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, is one of the most awaited films of 2018.
From sending an air balloon to different countries to teasing the scale of the film via behind the scenes videos, no South Indian movie, apart from Baahubali: The Conclusion, has been marketed on such a scale. In the video, director Shankar, joined by cinematographer Nirav Shah, explains why the film was shot in 3D. “This film was shot in 3D because the script required the technology,” he says.
Rajinikanth also explains that Shankar wrote the script keeping 3D in mind. Akshay Kumar agreed, “Working in 3D was much harder than I imagined, from the set up to the extent of how perfect things really need to be in every single shot.
Ray Hannisian, the lead stereographer on the project, has previously worked with Katy Perry, U2 and The Black Eyed Peas for their 3D concert films. The 3D featurette gives audience an excellent idea about how the film was shot and why it will set a high standard for any Indian film in terms of technology.
