A professional cricketer, Karan Parab was introduced to the world of acting while studying at College of Engineering Pune. The young actor joined Swatantra Theatre in the city and trained himself in the art of acting for three years. He went on to appear in several ad films and print campaigns thereafter. The Dubai-bred actor is now all set to make his Marathi film debut with School College Aani Life, which will also mark the directorial debut of Vihan Suryavanshi.
An Abasaheb Garware College alumnus, Karan admits that he wasn’t really keen on acting and cricket was his passion until 2007. “I played U-19 cricket and represented UAE in international cricket. I moved to Pune in 2007 to complete my education and thus began my tryst with acting. I started attending plays and slowly started participating too,” says Karan.
Interestingly, Karan will be sharing screen space with his sister and actor Tanvie Kishor in his debut film. So, did she part any advice to him? “We have a scene together and I am pretty excited about it. Tanvie told me to stay strong and confident and not let anything affect me. I am a very emotional and expressive person, so she has advised me to stay stern and not give up easily,” he says.
Karan went through a rigorous one month audition before bagging this role and even met film-maker Rohit Shetty. He says, “I was very nervous during the mahurat shot, but Rohit sir cracked a few jokes and immediately made me feel at ease. Honestly, I used to think he was very intimidating. But once we met, I realised that he is very humble and funny.”
