Akshita, the daughter of popular Tamil actor Vikram (Shankar’s I and Mani Ratnam’s Ravana) got engaged to her long-time beau, Manu Ranjith on Sunday in Chennai, according to a report in The News Minute. Manu belongs to the Ranganathan family in Chennai who own Cavin Kare’s Bakery in the city. Ranjith is also the great grandson of DMK supremo M Karunanidhi.

The engagement was a low-key affair with only family members in attendance. The wedding, however, will take place only next year.

Vikram is one of Tamil cinema’s most bankable stars. He was last seen in Iru Murugan but became popular nationally when he starred as a hunchback character in Shankar’s fantasy film, I, in 2015.
Vikram is married to Shailaja Balakrishnan and has a son, Dhruv, other than Akshita.
