Will Vijay Sethupathi’s new film reunite Ilaiyaraaja and Vairamuthu?

The falling off happened back in 1980s. But the buzz is Vijay Sethupathi’s next film with composer-turned-producer Yuvan Shankar Raja, may see two stalwarts of Tamil cinema come together again -- Ilaiyaraaja and Vairamuthu.

Vijay Sethupathi, one of the busiest actors in Tamil cinema, has signed a new film with his guru Seenu Ramasamy. Titled as Maamanithan, music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja will produce the film.

Seenu Ramasamy and Vijay Sethupathi had so far worked together in three films--Thenmerku Paruva Kaatru and Dharma Durai, the former won two National Awards and the latter was a box office success. The third film, Idam Porul Yaeval, for reasons unknown has been lying in the cans for over a year now.

Thenmerku Paruvakatru also marks Vijay Sethupathi’s debut heroic film. As reported earlier by HT, Seenu Ramasamy is in talks with Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja to jointly compose music for Maamanithan.

“Ilaiyaraaja is excited to work with his son Yuvan. Soon, YSR Studios will be making an official announcement and we are waiting for Seenu Ramasamy to finish the final draft,” said a source close to the team.

Illayaraja may compose the music for the film while his son, Yuvan Shankar Raja, who is expected to help his dad with the music, is producing the film.
