Actor Shruti Seth, who was recently trolled on Twitter for criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s #SelfieWithDaughter campaign, says that she never expected people to abuse her and her family the way they did. The 37-year-old says that people need to stay within boundaries when it comes to commenting on Twitter and if they can’t, maybe the medium itself should be done away with.

“I feel that things should have been sorted out in a well-mannered way and I was not expecting this kind of behaviour. If someone does not agree with you, is this the way you react? I feel Twitter as a medium is very unnecessary. It is very easy for people to just post what they want. It can easily be done away with,” she says.

Meanwhile, Shruti, who has recently come on board with a comedy show, says that the toughest thing about stand-up comedy is people’s reactions. “The scariest part about comedy is that people might not find it funny. The genre itself is very challenging. But I feel that I have such an amazing support system at work. This helps a lot,” says Shruti.
