You haven’t been seen on a TV show in two years. What kept you busy?

I had been working non-stop for four years. So, I took a break for over a year. I wanted to sign some movies, but I wasn’t happy with the offers I was receiving. Some of my contemporaries acted in the same movies that were offered to me, and I saw the result. I then decided that I would rather be an A-lister on TV than take up a movie just for the sake of it. I will be back with a cool new show now.

I haven’t worked for two years. Kaam karne ki aadat nahi rahi hai (I am not used to working now) (laughs). It will be tough initially, but it will get better. I have taken up a finite series; the subject is exciting. I play a character who is a go-getter and a charmer. He wants to be like Shah Rukh Khan. The character is similar to the person I am in real life. However, he is talkative; I’m not. I am ambitious and a go-getter, but I believe in hustling smartly.

What went wrong with the film you signed last year?

I had signed two-three movies. But due to creative issues with the producers, they fell through. I am particular about content. I wanted a few changes. I want to be seen in a film that has a good script.

You were in the news for your relationship and your break-up with Gauahar Khan. How do you look back at that phase?

I believe in looking forward. Everything happens for a reason. Whatever I did, I chose to do it. I don’t have any regrets in life. I learn from my mistakes and move on.

Is it possible to remain friends with an ex-girlfriend?

It is possible, but we (Gauahar) are not friends. I don’t want to be friends. I am friends with two of my former girlfriends though.
