Dance India Dance Season Two is in its last leg. The finale of the show will be streamed live on TV on April 23 on Zee TV. The show has been delivering ratings between 4 and 5 points, despite stiff competition on the weekends from the IPL Season Three matches and various other content on competing Hindi general entertainment channels.

Today, the channel has organised a Dance Carnival in the city that starts at Sai Baba Mandir Trust at the Worli Sea Face and culminates at the Worli Sports Ground with performances by the season two finalists- Dharmesh Yelande, Shakti Mohan, Puneet and Binny Sharma. The carnival is expected to kick-off at 7 pm. According to Akash Chawla of Zee TV, the rationale behind the elaborate on-ground initiative on the eve of the reality show’s finale is to let the audience experience dance on the streets of the city, instead of their TV sets.

“It will give a taste of what a real dance carnival is. Here, we haven’t really had a carnival replete with giant floats, stilt walkers, exotic dancers, body tattoo artists, salsa groups, lezhim troupes, dandiya and the works. For those who can’t make it to the show, they can catch it ‘Live’ on TV,” points out Chawla, adding that apart from the finalists, mentor judges Geeta Kapoor, Terrence Lewis and Remo D’ Souza would be performing on stage. However, there is no confirmation on whether Mithun Chakraborty, the grandmaster on the show, would be present for the carnival.

Since the carnival kicks off at 7 pm, chances of the roads getting congested are high. But Chawla says that everything has been well-looked after and no one would face a difficulty travelling to and fro. “That’s the first thing we have taken into consideration. If everything goes as per the floor-plan, there won’t be a problem with the traffic at all.”
