Ekta Kapoor’s new show, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein (YHM), was to mark the return of actor Cezanne Khan, who is remembered for playing Anurag Basu in Kasautii Zindagii Kay.

But after a lot of delay and shuffling, Cezanne, who had apparently shot some portions of YHM, left the show. He has now been replaced by Karan Patel, who could not believe when the role was offered to him.
"He’s an iconic actor. It was weird to replace someone much more successful than me. It was great to bag the role, but replacing someone makes you feel good and bad at the same time," says Karan.
Talking about the YHM, Karan says, "It is an adaptation of Manju Kapur’s book, Custody. The story revolves around two divorced people, who find solace in each other and their kids."
The actor, who garnered fame after playing the lead in Ekta Kapoor’s Kasturi, also revealed that he didn’t mind playing the role of a dad. He says, "The audiences know their actors. Didn’t Shah Rukh Khan have a romantic image despite playing a dad in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)?"
The show will mark Karan’s return to television after a three year hiatus. But the actor feels that the break was necessary. "If I was constantly on TV, people would get bored of me. Giving a break to yourself and the audience, once in a while, is good," he says.
