Sanjeeda Shaikh: Not many know that I had a role in Shoojit Sircar’s film Shoebite

Sanjeeda Shaikh aka Durga Thakur of Ek Hasina Thi says it was a dream come true to work with Amitabh Bachchan, Sarika and Shoojit Sircar in the film Shoebite.

Apart from television, actor Sanjeeda Sheikh has also made her presence felt in Bollywood, with films such as Baghban (2003) and Pankh (2010). However, the actor has not featured in films for a while now. Ask her the reason, and she says: “Not every offer I get is good enough. When I am getting to do good work on TV, why not concentrate on that? Why think about what films I can do? Acting is acting, be it any medium. I can wait till I get a substantial offer. For me, a good role and not the length is important,” says the 33-year-old known for her shows such as Kyaa Hoga Nimmo Kaa, Jaane Pehchane Se Yeh Ajnabi and Ek Hasina Thi.

Sanjeeda Shaikh also starred in a regional film, Ponniyin Selvan, starring veteran actor Revathi.

Many are unaware of the fact that Sanjeeda has acted in Shoojit Sircar’s Shoebite, which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Sarika. The film was later renamed Johnny Masatana. Sanjeeda says that the film is close to her heart. “Not many people know about it because it is yet to see the light of day. Working with Amitabh Bachchan and Sarika has been one of the best experiences of my life. It was also wonderful to work with Shoojit Sircar,” adds Sanjeeda, who portrayed Sarika’s young character in the film. She also starred in a regional film, Ponniyin Selvan, starring veteran actor Revathi.
