Stephen King's The Stand to debut on TV, McConaughey to star?

Author Stephen King's novel The Stand will reportedly be developed into a miniseries for television directed by Josh Boone who wants Matthew McConaughey to star.

Showtime is in talks with Warner Bros and CBS Films to make an eight-part miniseries based on the post-apocalyptic horror/fantasy novel that will later culminate in the big-screen adaptation, reported Aceshowbiz.

The Fault in Our Stars director Josh Boone has been roped in to direct the miniseries. Boone is reportedly planing to cast several A-listers for the project.

Although details of the the miniseries are still not known, King is likely to be involved in some capacity along with producers Roy Lee and Jimmy Miller.

The Stand is eyed as a big new franchise for Warner Bros. Boone said last year that they were "going to do four movies." At that time, Matthew McConaughey was reportedly eyed to star in it.
