Toral Rasputra reveals why she didn’t work on TV for a year after Balika Vadhu

Balika Vadhu actor Toral Rasputra says it’s time that show makers explore newer content on TV and give actors opportunity to explore their talent.

Toral Rasputra, who shot to fame after portraying the character of Anandi, feels that actors getting typecast on TV is a worrying trend. She asserts actors should be given enough opportunities to showcase their talent, and for that, show makers must explore newer and more interesting concepts.

Actor Toral Rasputra had replaced (late) actor Pratyusha Bannerjee as the protagonist in Balika Vadhu.

“After an actor plays a certain kind of role, he or she tends to get typecast. This is a common problem in the TV industry. If it continues, talent won’t get the opportunity to flourish. And I have a strong feeling that the audience would also like to see their favourite actors in different roles,” says Toral, who had replaced (late) actor Pratyusha Banerjee as the protagonist in Balika Vadhu.

However, Toral, who made her TV debut with the show Dhoom Machaao Dhoom, shares that it often becomes difficult for an actor to say no to every offer that comes their way. “Due to the fear of repeating [a character], an actor can’t say no to every show. After all, at times, one also has to think about running their house [also]. And that is when they end up signing similar roles,” she adds.
