TV actor Nia Sharma says everyone appreciates her for her honesty; adds that “one does not learn anything from Hindi shows”

Nia Sharma is not looking to take a break. The 26-year-old actor, who has moved on from her daily serial Jamai Raja, is happy riding the waves of success. She has now taken up a comedy show Comedy Nights Bachao Taaza, as she wants to attempt diverse roles. Here, she talks about the kind of roles she wants to take up, her frank behavior, and more.

Actor Nia Sharma isn’t scared of speaking her mind. She wants to try diverse roles, as she feels this is the time to experiment.

Your last show was a success, do you want to continue doing similar roles?

No, I want to play a romantic character, and a role that will become the talk of the town. Maybe, a role that is on the lines of Kangana Ranaut’s part in Tanu Weds Manu (2011). My last show focused on me and my co-star, Ravi Dubey. But after two years, the story reached a saturation point, and the makers wanted to take a leap. So, it was time for me to leave and find something new. I am happy that the show was a success.

I was happy that all my friends turned up for the party. It was a rocking birthday, and I enjoyed it. I was all over the place, jumping, shouting, and dancing. It was superb. I don’t wait for others to put up photos or the media to come and cover my party. I wanted to share my joy with my fans. My social media account was flooded with pictures of my party. I enjoy interacting with my fans.

Supernatural themes are doing pretty well in television. What’s your take on them?

I respect the medium (TV). It has given me everything. However, one doesn’t learn anything from Hindi shows. If someone makes a supernatural-themed show, and it becomes the best show, you are only making money and becoming famous. You are not learning anything from it. It’s pure entertainment, even if the content is regressive.

You are quite open about expressing your views. Has this ever landed you in trouble?

No, everyone appreciates me for my honesty. Why shouldn’t I speak my mind? I will not say I am blunt. I don’t speak about others. If I feel I am not doing something right, I express it to people and to the media too. I wouldn’t shy away from that. It’s healthy to interact. What you see is what you get with me.
