- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has kept the tax slabs unchanged for the next financial year while announcing the Budget 2022. The announcement has come as a big disappointment for the salaried class which was hoping for a major reform in the tax regime. Opposition has now hit out at Nirmala Sitharaman claiming that the budget had nothing for the salaried class and the youth. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee even termed it a 'zero sum Budget'. Though the tax slabs remain unchanged, the Finance Minister has however given respite to people filing their revised Income Tax Return. Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that the revised tax filing window will remain open for two years from the year of assessment in case of less filing of tax. Watch for more details.
