Delhi polls: BJP, ally part ways as Akali Dal refuses to change stand on CAA

BJP and long-standing ally Akali Dal parted ways for Delhi polls. Akali Dal leader Manjinder Sirsa made the announcement on Jan 20. Sirsa said that BJP was trying to urge Akali Dal to change stance on CAA. Akali Dal has pitched inclusion of Muslims in Citizenship Act amendment. BJP has successfully struck deals with 2 other allies for Delhi polls. BJP has reached an understanding with JD(U), LJP for polls. JD(U) will contest polls on 2 seats, while LJP was allotted one seat. The Bihar-based parties are expected to attract Purvanchali voters.
