At UNGA, Macron calls for Hormuz reopening, more Ukraine air defences as Putin & Iran press Europe

French President Emmanuel Macron has used the UN General Assembly in New York to push for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and stronger air-defence support for Ukraine. Macron said France and partners were working on ways to restore shipping through the vital waterway, while also pressing for faster delivery of missile interceptors to Kyiv. He has also discussed a possible energy truce between Russia and Ukraine with U.S. President Donald Trump. The moves come as the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East continue to affect European security, energy supplies and global shipping routes.
