The swollen Bagmati River overflowed its banks in Kathmandu following persistent heavy rainfall, prompting a high alert in low-lying riverside communities. Landslides triggered by the rain have also blocked major highways, including the Prithvi Highway, BP Highway and Kanti Lokpath, disrupting transport and leaving vehicles stranded.
