Britain and Ukraine have signed a major defence agreement to develop AI technologies using battlefield data gathered during the Russia-Ukraine war. The deal gives UK universities and defence companies access to Ukraine’s Avengers Labs and its collection of around five million battlefield images and sensor frames. The data has been used to train AI systems for identifying tanks, artillery, air-defence systems, infantry and aerial targets. The agreement could give Britain valuable access to real-world combat data while strengthening UK-Ukraine defence cooperation amid continuing tensions with Russia.
