Covid update: UK & Delta variant ‘concern’; clarification on India’s death data

• From lowest daily cases to unlock delay in Britain, here are the top updates on coronavirus. India recorded 84,322 new cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest in 70 days. This is the fifth consecutive day that cases in India remained below the one-lakh mark. Also, the Centre refuted claims of a report that India’s Covid-19 deaths could be ‘five to seven times higher than official numbers. The Centre said the report is based on the extrapolation of data without any epidemiological evidence. Meanwhile, UK PM Boris Johnson hinted at delaying the unlock process in the country from June 21.
