‘More Covid-like pandemics likely’: New York’s Dr Syra Madad on what’s ahead

Dr Syra Madad, senior director, system-wide special pathogens program office, NYC Health + Hospitals, commented on the trajectory of the Covid-19 pandemic and what we must do next to eventually emerge victorious. She warned that more viruses like the Sars-Cov-2 coronavirus may be waiting in the wings, and the strongest defence against more pandemics is a sturdy global healthcare system, where each country has adequate resources and capacity to control an outbreak of an infectious disease.
