- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has allegd that the state’s share of oxygen was being given to Uttar Pradesh. This comes as several hospitals have complained of a shortage in oxygen supply leading to panic amid a surge in Covid cases. ‘There is no oxygen available in the market. There are no medicines available either; still we are treating Covid patients for free. The chain that used to supply oxygen to Bengal is now giving it to U.P. They are taking our share of oxygen to create shortage here,’ Mamata said. The Bengal Chief Minister also asked why the PM CARES fund was not being used to vaccinate the needy free of cost.
