Many netizens with theatre background concluded that Chris Rock evoked the Macbeth curse. Moments before the unfortunate event took place, Chris Rock had taken the name of Macbeth in his monologue. In theatre, everyone is taught to never say the word 'Macbeth' and instead use 'The Scottish Play' as it is believed to bring bad luck.
