Famous writer Taarak Mehta passes away at 87

Renowned Indian humorist and playwright Taarak Mehta breathed his last today after suffering from prolonged illness. He was 87 years old. The entire family members gathered to bid a tearful adieu to Taarak. His relative Prabhakar Shukla expressed his condolence. The popular series 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' is television adaptation of Taarak Mehta's column 'Duniya Ne Undha Chasma'. Mehta used to write for Gujarati dailies like Divya Bhaskar besides other publications. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2015 for his literary contributions. He is survived by a daughter from his first marriage.
