Published on Feb 26, 2025 01:38 am IST

Pakistan's newest and most expensive airport, the New Gwadar International Airport, remains eerily empty despite its completion in October 2024. Funded entirely by China at a cost of $240 million, the airport is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a multi-billion dollar initiative aimed at linking China's Xinjiang province to the Arabian Sea. The city continues to struggle with basic infrastructure issues, including unreliable electricity and a shortage of clean water, while the airport's large capacity seems unnecessary for the area's small population. Watch the video for details.
