Hamas prepares secret elections after Gaza ceasefire: Who will lead next, Al-Hayya or Mashaal?

After months of internal turmoil following the assassinations of senior Hamas figures Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar, the militant group is set to hold internal elections to choose a new political bureau chief. According to Saudi-based Asharq News, the vote—delayed due to the Gaza war and leadership instability—could take place within days or weeks. A transitional leadership council overseeing the group since the leaders’ deaths will dissolve once a new chief is chosen. The Shura Council, made up of some 50 members from Gaza, the West Bank, and abroad, has already begun preparing for the ballot. Watch for more
