The controversy started in the small costal town of Udipi but now has spread across the country. In UP, pro-Hijab protests have erupted in Allahabad, Aligarh and several cities. The first phase of polling in UP took place on Thursday in 58 seats in its western region- but there are 6 more phases to go. Will the emotive issue lead to steep polarization of votes in the remaining phases.
