Updated on Nov 29, 2017 12:15 pm IST
Hadiya, a Hindu woman from Kerala, had converted to Islam last year and married a Muslim man Shafin Jahan. Hadiya's father Ashokan KM, challenged her marriage in Kerala high court. The court nullified the marriage and gave Hadiya's custody to her father. Shafin Jahan challenged the high court verdict in Supreme Court. The apex court, on November 27, 2017, granted freedom to Hadiya and sent her back to Salem to continue her medical studies. However, the court remained silent over her annulled marriage.
