RSS dress codes over the years

The new dress code in the RSS came into effect on the foundation day of the organisation, with its trademark khaki shorts being replaced with brown trousers, heralding a generational change in the Sangh, the ruling BJP's ideological mentor. The Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat delivered the annual Vijayadashami address here donning the new attire. It took the Sangh 90 years to make this transition. But over the years there have been other such changes. Like the white shirt was introduced in 1939, black military-style high ankle boots were replaced with black shoes in 1979 and leather shoes and belts were replaced by rexine or canvas in 2010. The only constant, however, has been the black cap!
