Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan arrives in India

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, who is on a visit to India, was accorded ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapti Bhavan on Monday morning. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Erdogan's Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee received and greeted him upon his arrival ahead of the ceremony. Later, the President made a visit to the Rajghat and paid his tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Tayyip Erdogan arrived in the national capital yesterday for a two-day visit. It is his first visit as the President. He won a referendum on April 16 which gave him more executive powers as the President.This visit is expected to be crucial in view of the crisis in Syria and support for India's membership in the Nuclear Suppliers Group.
