Watch | Protests over Cauvery river water dispute turn violent

Updated on Sept 06, 2016 04:16 pm IST

The Cauvery river water dispute has taken an ugly turn as protestors in Karnataka's Mandya district vandalized the PWD office and raised slogans against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa today. The protestors are raising their voice against the Supreme Court's order to release more Cauvery river water to neighbouring Tamil Nadu. Last week, the Supreme Court told Karnataka to “Live and let live” and urged both states to “maintain harmony in the water dispute”. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has appealed for peace.
