Sales of music cassettes, CDs and fruits are on the rise in eastern Bihar state due to the annual festival of Chhat Puja during which devotees worship the Sun God for prosperity. The people specially married women in eastern Bihar and some parts of the neighbouring Uttar Pradesh state celebrate the festival. It seems that this festival too has not remained untouched by the rapid pace of commercialisation.
